22nd April 2018 Drive It Day Meet and Run
A total of 13 Minors and an MGB met at Abingdon School in the morning for photos, chat and a bask in the glorious sunshine. Just after 11.30am we departed on a 40 mile Run that took in an array of Oxfordshire villages, dozens of ancient Inns and some very old and important river crossings of the Upper Thames. Around 1.15pm we parked up at Millets Farm Centre for picnics, refreshment and as much leisure as we chose before heading for home.
Harwell Feast – Monday 28th May 2018
Six cars and their various occupants attended the Feast this year. We had four cars in The Parade watched by hundreds of people as we drove through the village to the show field. The weather was excellent and thousands of visitors attended. There was plenty of entertainment and interest for everyone as well as the array of classic vehicles. Facilities to cope with the very large numbers were well devised and controlled by a huge team of volunteers. A good time was had by all. This is a fun event that is worth supporting. Thanks to Robin for being ‘our man on the inside’.

Churchill Village Classic Car Show - 10th June 2018
This was our first visit as a Branch of MMOC although individual members had visited before. Over 500 vehicles made this a car show 'par excellence' and there was variety and quality in bucketloads. No one could recall seeing so much expensive metal displayed on the same field and in a lovely setting. The village recreational field between the church and village hall was packed. Despite this we had been given our own area that allowed us to try out our gazebo, hang our banner and display some re-vamped information boards. We attracted a lot of attention and interest from visitors and enthusiasts especially since we were celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Morris Minor. The weather was perfect, organisation and refreshments very good and the church and Heritage Centre were open for viewing. We even had a Spitfire 'fly-past'. All very enjoyable and well worth the biennial visit.

70th Anniversary Party Cowley - 28th October 2018 |
|
On a sunny Sunday morning most of our branch members along with others from Buckinghamshire and North Wilts gathered at the MINI Plant in Cowley to celebrate 70 years of the Morris Minor. Star of the show was Frank's 1948 Minor MM pictured below. The Mayor of Oxford and a BMW plant director were in attendance along with a representative from the Oxford Mail. We sang Happy Birthday and enjoyed a slice of cake. Special thanks go to Tanya Field who organised the opening of the visitor centre for us.

Branch Members Sunday Lunch. Sunday, November 18th, 2018.
After a very busy 2018 season several of us gathered together for a final daytime meeting for the year.
The proposal for possible daytime meetings in the winter months had been discussed during the final summer outings as it was becoming apparent that several of us are now not always available for our long-established monthly meetings. Arrangements for this were made by Pat and Graham and the event proved quite successful.
The chosen venue was the Prince of Wales pub at Shippon, near Abingdon. It is centrally placed in our Branch area and offers good food, service and surroundings – and came recommended by at least 4 of our members. On the day the weather was clear and bright and not too cold. Nine of our members attended and provided a smart line up of 5 Minors and 1 MG ‘B’ in the pub car park.
We gathered outside from 12-00noon, then it was inside for drinks, a chat together in the bar and then to the restaurant for a very welcome Sunday Roast. We remained there until about 3-15 pm and enjoyed a leisurely meal and some good conversations.
Those present agreed that this type of event should be repeated and there was a suggestion that we do it all again, perhaps at the end of January/start of February, but this will depend on our Branch calendar.
Those present were :
Pete Laird – M1000 Traveller; Roy and Janice Stocker – M1000 Saloon; Tony Miller – M1000 Saloon;
Frank McDonagh – MM Saloon; Graham and Pat Holt – MM Saloon;
Richard and Pauline Plant – MG ‘B’
